During July and August, OSA parishioners brought in new backpacks for kids at the Hispanic Mission. Parishioner John Newman, head of OSA's outreach, learned that many kids from the Hispanic community return to school without school supplies--paper, pencils,
pens, calculator, ruler, notebook, etc.
OSA took on the task of providing thirty fully equipped backpacks. Then as an added incentive, from Sunday, July 30th to Sunday, August 6th the parish was given a 2-for-1 challenge. For every backpack brought in by parishioners, an anonymous donor would give an additional backpack. The result? OSA provided a total of 48 backpacks, eighteen more than originally planned.
Good luck to the kids at the Mission and thanks Old St. Andrew's!
