Old St. Andrew's ~ A Church on Mission

You’ll be excited about our outreach ministry! Like all activities at Old St. Andrew’s, Outreach & Mission is an inclusive ministry–that means everyone can participate. The ministry spans all ages: from the youngest church school members who make Easter baskets for other children and visit the elderly at nursing homes to older members who help tutor disadvantaged youngsters.

You will find the parish located in a pastoral setting, yet parishioners are strongly committed to the community around them. Past programs include involvement with South Park Inn Homeless Shelter; Covenant to Care; L’Ecole Le Bon Samaritain, Haiti; My Sister’s Place. We have provided Arts and Crafts workshops on Saturday mornings at St. Brigid's Catholic Worker House. Our parishioners have also worked to bring together Roman Catholic and Protestant Northern Irish Children, and resettle refugee families in the town of Bloomfield.

Three years ago, parishioners at Old St. Andrew’s affirmed our commitment by tithing (pledging) a portion of the funds raised for our Enhancement Program to Outreach & Mission. With this tithe, we hope to significantly enhance the lives of our neighbors as well as our parish.

Our Outreach & Mission Committee has been investigating opportunities to best utilize our committed funds and have been working with our Vestry to establish goals and budgets for this work. We're considering further outreach work with a number of worthy organizations, including Habitat for Humanity to create affordable housing in our local area; helping meet the needs of L’Ecole Bon Samaritain, a Haitian school for impoverished children.

We hope you’ll come a join the many others at Old St. Andrew’s who have volunteered in time, talent and treasure over the years to help our neighbors, all the while enriching our own knowledge and understanding of Christ.
