Dear Friends:
You have found Old St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, an open and inclusive Christian community. You are welcome regardless of your religious background. Welcome as well are people who are filled with questions about where God might be in their lives.
Old St. Andrew's was founded in 1740 in the area of Simsbury then known as Scotland. It is now a part of the Town of Bloomfield. The original small frame Church was replaced in 1807 by our current building which sits next to the historic Old St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
You will find the liturgy at Old St. Andrew’s is characterized by dignity, grace, and integrity. We follow the Book of Common Prayer and the common lectionary. The Holy Eucharist is celebrated each week on Sundays at 8 and 10 and at 12:15 on Wednesday afternoons in association with an adult education program. The Old St. Andrew’s choir sings at the 10 o'clock service on Sundays (except during the summer months).
Many people discover Old St. Andrew’s because they are lost on a drive, take a wrong turn, or are riding their bike. Others find the Church because their neighbors have brought them on a Sunday. Some see our distinctive signs and want to know where the "Church Worth Finding" actually is. Nearly everyone who sees the Church is drawn inside. Many who enter become members.
Please consider this an invitation to visit Old St. Andrew’s. If you would like more information or a chance to chat with me, just send an e-mail or call to set up an appointment.
Blessings and peace,

The Rev'd Erl G. Purnell,
